Labour Trafficking Project

Funded by the Minister for Home Affairs and Justice, Attorney General’s Department Asian Women at Work is currently working on a project that highlights the problem of labour trafficking by raising awareness, providing advocacy and support to victims, and reaching vulnerable groups. The project is called Outreach, Empowerment and Support through Education and Awareness Raising to Vulnerable Migrant Women Workers in Low Paid Employment.

The aim of the Project is to outreach to a large number of vulnerable migrant women workers and facilitate access to information and resources, breakdown isolation, build self confidence and self-worth, increase knowledge of Australian society especially labour laws, identify and develop leaders and work together on common issues of concern locally and in the wider community. The project will also develop resources that will remind the target group about their rights at work, where to seek help or how to protect themselves from labour exploitation.
