Speaking Out for Justice

Speaking out for Justice is a training day for staff and students interested in social justice, comprising information sessions and workshops.

The first of our Fair School Wear training days was held in Strathfield on Tuesday 22nd May, 2001. Approximately 100 Students and teachers from 13 schools across Sydney (as well as from the central coast and Wollongong) came together to participate in information sessions and workshops on the Fair Wear campaign.

A Newcastle training day was conducted on 16th May, 2002, involving approximately 80 participants from across the local region.

These training days have proved successful in educating members of school communities about the issue of outworker exploitation in the clothing industry. They have also provided participants with the skills to pursue the issue within their own communities, and have inspired a number of schools to take an active role in investigating how their school uniforms are made.
